What’s Poppin everyone?! (If you were a Virginia Tech Student that came to our in-person optional orientation programming, you would get the reference!)
Let me introduce myself: my name is Andrew Charles Sloop! I use He/They pronouns. I was born in China Grove, North Carolina, but I have lived in Bland County, Virginia ever since I was five years old. Currently, I am attending Virginia Tech pursuing a dual degree in Public Relations and Theatre Arts: Performance with minors in Leadership & Social Change as well as Organizational Leadership. Spring 2025 will be the last semester as an undergraduate student, and time has certainly flown by!
Coming to this university allows me to explore my passions while being surrounded by amazing friends and colleagues. Before Virginia Tech, I graduated Bland County High School with an advanced diploma in 2021, and I finished my Associate’s Degree of Arts & Sciences with a major in General Studies from Wytheville Community College that same year.
In this website, you will get a glimpse into my life whether that is my involvement at Virginia Tech, my values as an artist, and what projects I do in the world of a lifelong learner. My aspirations is to work on myself in all aspects of well-being, and climb to the top to not only complete my studies at this university, but step into the world of higher education. Additionally, this includes taking my leadership philosophy to empower youth/students to take charge in DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion), social change, and servant leadership.
A new discovery in my passion area is leadership education and pursuing a career in student affairs. I believe that blending all of the aspects that I have mentioned boils down to helping people narrate their own story and become successful in their passions. Higher education allows that opportunity for students to blossom from the seeds planted through experiences in organizations, the classroom, and residence life.
One of the main reasons that you are probably visiting my website is for my photography section! If you go to the Photo Portfolios section, you will be able to see all the different types of sessions I provide as a photographer. I break these down into four different sessions:
Graduation
Internships/Jobs
Casual
Virginia Tech
If you wish to schedule an appointment, please feel free to go to the appointments section of my website, or send me a message on any of my social media platforms. Prices as well as additional details will be released on that section of the website as well.
My journey is everything but boring, so make sure to follow along! There are so many opportunities and stories coming in the future, and should you want to learn more about my stories, reach out! I love meeting people, getting to know them through my photography and my work, but also appreciating the value of their stories and their passions is something that brings me an irreplaceable happiness!
